The client is a pharmaceutical company that provides high-quality, low-cost pharmaceuticals through ultramodern, U.S.-based advanced manufacturing processes. They are looking to use continuous manufacturing to produce essential medicines through Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) to Finished Drug Products. Additionally, this company maintains a warehouse that will help to support medical emergency response capabilities by keeping a strategic reserve of critical APIs for the health of all the country. Through manufacturing and the warehouse reserve of APIs and Finished Drug Products, the company hopes to fortify the domestic supply chain and prevent drug shortages in the future.
Clarkston was asked to collaborate with the client to identify and analyze business processes, procedures, and supporting digital artifacts. Clarkston facilitated workshops to build and align business processes to enable manufacturing and warehouse operations before the next phase of the SAP implementation.
A holistic approach to the business and its processes, knowledge of the supply chain, and an understanding of nuances in pharmaceutical industry helped the Clarkston team to comprehensively identify critical processes and provide direction to create sustainable business processes. This enabled the company to achieve operational efficiency and ensure operability until future technology was implemented to support the facility.
Clarkston helped finalize, optimize, and map the pilot-scale manufacturing, warehouse, and hybrid manufacturing large-scale facility business processes. The process maps and artifacts developed will enable the operation of the warehouse and manufacturing sites in addition to facilitating work with the contract partner. Clarkston’s work enabled the client to begin operations in the warehouse and manufacturing areas while awaiting their next SAP implementation phase.
