To support the compliance requirements and rigorous data needs ahead of their first commercial drug product, a life sciences client engaged Clarkston to design and implement a comprehensive Master Data Governance program. The key goal was to create a fit-for-purpose master data governance program that would enable the client to efficiently and accurately manage their master data assets across key systems starting with their soon-to-launch SAP platform.
The hybrid organizational model Clarkston recommended balanced centralized oversight with decentralized ownership. The Clarkston design included policies and frameworks to create the structure for the implementation; clear roles and responsibilities for who would be needed to implement the governance program on day 1 and ongoing; a roadmap to enable future evolution of the program; a tool to enable tactical, day-to-day management of their master data assets in SAP; and clarity for how to evolve the program over time to include additional systems and domains.
Through this partnership, the client gained not only a comprehensive and executable governance program aligned with their SAP implementation, but also a roadmap to guide continued evolution of their data capabilities, enhancing data integrity, compliance readiness, and organizational confidence in master data as a trusted enterprise asset.
