Clarkston Consulting recently partnered with a biotechnology client to develop a Veeva commercial systems IT roadmap. The client is on the way to commercializing its first product. As they move forward in their journey to commercialization, the organization will select and implement several business-critical IT systems. It’s imperative that the systems meet both business and IT selection criteria. Currently, the client is challenged with siloed pockets of solutioning, fragmented data sources, limited governance, and documentation.
Clarkston Consulting was engaged to deliver a commercial solutions technology roadmap that can be used to facilitate contracting, system support, and long-term business success for the client. The scope of the project included Commercial Operations, Marketing, Sales, Regulatory, Medical, Safety, Clinical and Quality. The Clarkston team was also tasked to document considerations on a platform first versus point-solution architecture, as the client needs to be positioned from a commercialization solutions perspective to readily scale up to support growth – with the right solutions at the right time.
To accomplish this, the Clarkston team:
- Facilitated discovery and alignment on Commercial Solutions (Veeva) technology requirements based on business objectives and commercial timing
- Conducted key interviews with a focused set of stakeholders responsible for the areas that Veeva impacts
- Consolidated findings and playback, defined prioritization, and proposed recommendations
The Clarkston team leveraged deep Veeva knowledge and expertise coupled with industry experience to create solutions and define a vision for the future IT operations of the business, leveraging Veeva’s best-in-class software. As a result of this project, the client has realized an IT roadmap plan and timeline for facilitating a successful product launch in support of their inaugural commercial product under an accelerated timeline. Furthermore, the business has achieved a foundation for further business success in the long term, providing insights and actionable guidance for the IT organization to support the evolving system landscape as the client continues to mature and develop more life-saving therapies.
