The client is a global, innovative biopharmaceutical company that engaged Clarkston Consulting to conduct an IT re-organization. The effort focused on improving operational efficiency and speed of IT response to business needs, synergizing similar functions, optimizing span of control and organizational layers, and outsourcing commodity skills where possible and increasing higher value skills (Data, AI, Cloud, DevOps, Agile, Cyber).
The overall intent was to provide modernized operating model that best supported the client’s overall and IT-specific strategies, priorities, and goals. Clarkston partnered with the client to complete an IT organizational transformation strategy assessment by evaluating current state challenges, identifying gaps in maturity compared to leading pharma IT organizations, and identifying and prioritizing key opportunities for improvement. This resulted in the development of an IT operating model that defined core ways of working, roles and responsibilities, and supporting processes to standardize how work is done in the most efficient, effective, and value-driven manner.
As an outcome, the client received a set of recommendations structured as key initiatives to optimize core processes across the IT lifecycle, clarify roles and responsibilities, and a RACI chart to improve decision-making, standardize demand management and prioritization processes, and reorganize core delivery center teams, including data and AI to deliver products and services in line with business and industry needs.
