2022 CIO Market Study Summary: Taking Stock with Peter T.

In late 2021, Clarkston Consulting conducted a CIO Market Study, aiming to better understand the current priorities and challenges of upper or C-Suite level IT professionals (CIO/CISO/CTO/VP) at large companies ($350M+ revenue) in the retail, CPG, manufacturing, or life science industries. The results from the survey provided valuable insight into the current status and perceptions of IT departments; department expectations, priorities, and plans for the upcoming year; and important attributes in outsourcing and managed services, among other key findings.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced companies across the world to adapt and respond to change and disruption. One area that many businesses are having to continually rethink and reassess is the role that the IT department plays in a company. The shift to a virtual environment, budget constraints, and labor shortages, among other challenges, have encouraged companies to consider ways in which IT and other areas can work together to serve and support the business more effectively.

Perhaps now more than ever, it’s essential that companies invest in and understand the needs of their IT department. When IT departments function as an extension of the business rather than a siloed functional area, there’s great value and potential for the entire company. In this episode of Taking Stock, I’m joined by Peter Tzefronis, Associate Partner at Clarkston, as we discuss some of the key insights and industry takeaways from the 2022 CIO Survey as well as future considerations and priorities for IT departments in the coming years.
