Modernizing an ERP can create an opportunity to address the technology environment while preparing the business for future growth. That was the objective when a leading global consumer products manufacturer partnered with Clarkston Consulting to migrate from SAP ECC to SAP Cloud ERP.
The transformation extended well beyond a traditional system conversion. Clarkston helped deliver a hybrid Brownfield and Greenfield implementation that modernized the client’s core ERP environment while introducing new capabilities, including:
- Master Data Governance (MDG)
- Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC)
- Extended Warehouse Management (EWM)
- Revenue Accounting and Reporting (RAR)
- Data & Analytics
- Organizational Change Management (OCM)
The program also incorporated a Selective Data Transition (SDT) strategy that migrated only relevant historical data, reducing cutover time, simplifying data management, and supporting the implementation of a new legal entity into the system.
Throughout the 20-month program, Clarkston provided end-to-end leadership across program management, solution design, data migration, testing, change management, training, and deployment. To prepare business users for the new environment, Clarkston used structured OCM and train-the-trainer programs, supported by SAP Enable Now simulations.
Following go-live, the project quickly achieved operational stability. Business continuity was maintained, key operational metrics returned to historical performance within weeks, reporting adoption steadily increased, and the organization successfully transitioned from legacy on-premises SAP ECC to SAP Cloud ERP. The implementation also established a repeatable migration approach for future global SAP deployments and created a centralized MDG model spanning North America and Europe.
Clarkston partnered with the client from strategy through hypercare to deliver the program and support the transition to the new environment. The resulting SAP Cloud ERP environment reduces infrastructure and support risk while providing a foundation for future analytics and AI capabilities.
