In the fast-paced world of biopharmaceuticals, where innovation is key and competition fierce, streamlining internal processes can be the difference between a breakthrough therapy reaching patients and falling behind. This was the challenge faced by a leading American biopharma company dedicated to RNAi therapeutics for rare and genetic diseases. 

The IT organization aimed to empower the Commercial teams with cutting-edge tools to improve field engagement and enhance promotional materials, all while controlling costs and maximizing efficiency. The solution? They implemented enhanced Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Marketing Material Review, and other tools within the Veeva platform. However, they encountered challenges with disparate needs across teams and limited oversight from key stakeholders, which threatened to create a fragmented ecosystem where multiple tools were meeting similar regional needs, stalling the effective deployment of holistic capabilities. 

This is where Clarkston’s Veeva experts stepped in. Recognizing the need for a holistic approach, the Clarkston team assessed the client’s existing technology infrastructure, identifying potential roadblocks and opportunities for integration. This initial audit laid the groundwork for a comprehensive understanding of current state capabilities. Through in-depth interviews and workshops, Clarkston engaged key stakeholders across Commercial & Medical teams, allowing us to pinpoint specific user needs and identify areas where new capabilities could have the most significant impact. 

From there, Clarkston worked with various stakeholders to establish clear metrics and benchmarks for success. This ensured everyone was aligned on the desired outcomes and empowered to track progress effectively. With a deep understanding of the landscape, user needs, and success criteria, Clarkston then designed a streamlined enablement process for the client to govern capabilities intake, review, and deployment decisions. This included designated oversight roles, robust communication channels, and tailored training programs to ensure smooth adoption and effective utilization of new capabilities. 

By bridging the gap between technology and user needs, and fostering collaboration across functional groups, the Commercial, Medical, and IT organization now had a lexicon and process to evaluate business needs for customer-facing field engagement technology. This new governance model enabled the evolution of the commercial ecosystem and future Veeva selections and implementations.
