A biologicals contract manufacturer with a mission to make contributions to biological science worldwide through the production of high-quality biological precursors was faced with the challenge of selecting a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) vendor to improve their current business and manufacturing processes. With the length and complexity of the manufacturing processes currently in place, the client’s need for a solution that could simplify business processes and improve quality was paramount.
Clarkston led a 10-week vendor selection process that began with conducting workshops to better understand the current business, IT, and manufacturing processes that were in place at the client site. The team was able to identify end user requirements, pain points of the current processes, suitable processes for a pilot MES implementation, and performance metrics to target during these workshops.
Clarkston constructed and led the Request for Proposal (RFP) process that included some of the top MES vendors within the life sciences industry. Clarkston then created and provided a vendor scoring methodology to the client for the RFP team to evaluate vendor sales demonstrations, proposal responses, and total cost of ownership based on user requirements and their current processes. An analysis of the final scores for each vendor along with their proposed cost models and vendor agnostic organizational benefits were presented to the client’s leadership team.
