Managing a Diverse Workforce: Taking Stock with Beth Ritter

Managing a diverse workforce is top of mind for many organizations right now. Today’s workplace has become increasingly diverse, with different ages, races, backgrounds and skill-sets working side-by-side.  Further, Covid-19 has accelerated the trend of remote work and organizations are currently contemplating what is the right mix of remote vs. onsite mix going forward.  While this mix of employees provides unique opportunities for organizations to bring different perspectives to bear, it also brings about unique challenges that leaders need to consider.

This said, I am excited to welcome Beth Ritter to this week’s Taking Stock.  Beth is currently an Associate Professor of Practice of Human Resource Management at NC State University’s Poole College of Management. Prior to her current role, Beth has had an extensive career in the consumer products industry, including having led the HR function for the Burt’s Bees organization, serving as the HR Leader to the Supply Chain function at the Campbell Soup Company and providing HR support to the foods business of the Nabisco Brands Company.  Throughout her career, Beth has been a thought leader around HR and the employee value proposition and, through our discussion, provides perspective on how today’s diverse workforce impacts employee advancement, company culture, job security and employee engagement.
