Clarkston Consulting Appoints Paul Garrison as President, Naming Two Co-founders Partner Emeritus

Durham, NC  |  April 26, 2016 — Clarkston Consulting, a management, operations and implementation consulting firm, announced today that Paul Garrison, Global Managing Partner, was appointed as President, effective immediately. Mr. Garrison succeeds Neil Nelson, co-founder and President since 1991. Mr. Nelson and Mr. Jim Stefan, another of the firm’s co-founders, will be stepping out of day-to-day management activities while maintaining their roles on the board of directors. As directors, Mr. Nelson and Mr. Stefan will continue to provide strategic advice and counsel to Clarkston clients and firm leadership.

Paul Garrison serves as President and is responsible for overseeing the core consulting business unit by developing new client relationships and delivering services to Clarkston Consulting’s global clients. He has served as an executive advisor and has been actively involved in creating solutions and executing strategic initiatives for many of the world’s best known consumer products and life sciences companies. His unique approach to solving complex business issues and executing large technology implementations has established Mr. Garrison as a trusted advisor to many executives and industry consultants. Paul graduated from Clemson University. He is a member of BIOCOM, BayBIO and Pennsylvania BIO. He has also served on the executive board of The Second Harvest Food Bank. Mr. Garrison lives in Winston-Salem, NC and is based in the firm’s Durham, NC headquarters.

Neil Nelson, co-founder and director, has helped the firm identify and bring to market solutions that meet the current and future needs of our life sciences and consumer products clients over the last 25 years. He has championed key employee-initiated efforts to help Clarkston continue being a highly-sought after, great place to work. Utilizing his over 25 years of management and business consulting experience, he has counseled Clarkston’s stewards on client service, professionalism and industry expertise. Mr. Nelson is a part-time faculty member at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. Neil received his B.S. in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan.

Jim Stefan, co-founder and Group Treasurer on the board of directors, has been responsible for managing strategic client relationships and overseeing firm governance in finance, IT, adjacency development, and other strategic initiatives. He has more than 30 years of IT and management consulting experience and two decades of specialized focus on life science and consumer products clients. Mr. Stefan studied at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs for two years and received a B.S. in management sciences at Case Western Reserve University.
